The Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea) reported that farmers in the state have sold 51% of their anticipated 2024/25 safrinha corn production, which is up 7% from May and up 15% compared to last year. The average spot price for corn in May was R$ 44.43 per sack (approximately $3.60 per bushel). Lower corn prices slowed sales compared to last year.

For the 2025/26 safrinha corn crop, farmers have sold 5.8% compared to 3% last year and 15% average. There is low interest in selling because farmers are busy harvesting and commercializing their 2024/25 crop and bartering for their 2025/26 inputs.
