2022/23 Argentina Soybeans 78% Harvested vs. 92% Average

Soybean yields thus far this harvest season averaged 1,500 kg/ha (22.3 bu/ac) last week, which was down 0.3 bu/ac compared to the prior week. Soybean yields continue to be disappointing in central Argentina, but they are a little better in far southern and far northern Argentina.

Yields in north-central Cordoba averaged 1,260 kg/ha (18.7 bu/ac). In far northern Argentina, yields are a little better at 1,700 kg/ha (25.3 bu/ac). Some of the best yields are in southeastern Buenos Aires at 3,000 kg/ha (44.7 bu/ac). The yields of the early planted soybeans are higher than that of the late planted soybeans.

The soybeans were 78% harvested as of late last week compared to 91% last year and 92% average. This represents an advance of 9% for the week. In the core production areas, the soybeans are approximately 95% harvested with 50-60% harvested in southern Argentina and 45-55% harvested in northern Argentina. The early planted soybeans are 86% harvested and the later planted soybeans are 59% harvested.

The soybeans are rated 56% poor/very poor, 39% fair, and 5% good/excellent. The good/excellent percentage is up 1% from the prior week. The soil moisture for the soybeans is rated 39% short/very short and 61% favorable/optimum. The favorable/optimum percentage is up 10% from the prior week.
