2023/24 Paraguay Soybeans 50% Harvested

Harvesting of the 2023/24 soybeans in Paraguay is in full swing with 50% of the crop harvested compared to 30% average according to Esther Storch, director of DASAGRO. She is estimating the average soybean yield in Paraguay at 3,500 kg/ha (51.1 bu/ac) with a production of 10.6 million tons for the main soybean crop.
Farmers in Paraguay are in the midst of planting a safrinha crop of soybeans and corn and if the weather cooperates for the safrinha crops, she believes that Paraguay could produce as much as 11.5 million tons of soybeans in 2023/24.
The safrinha soybeans in Paraguay will need adequate rainfall through the month of April to ensure trend line yields and that is not a sure thing this year. There is speculation in Brazil that the summer rainy season may end earlier than normal this year, which would put in doubt the safrinha soybean yield in Paraguay and the safrinha corn yield in Brazil.
