Safrinha Corn Planting Complete in Parana, Brazil

Planting of the safrinha corn in Parana is 99% complete according to the Department of Rural Economics (Deal). Corn is 3% germinating, 63% in vegetative development, 27% pollinating, and 7% filling grain. The crop is rated 2% poor, 12% average, and 86% good.

In northern and northwestern Parana, the weather has not been beneficial for crop development with hot and dry conditions. In many municipalities, the corn is exhibiting moisture stress with yields already being negatively impacted. Lower yields are also expected in the western and center-west region of the state. In southwest Parana, the safrinha corn has had beneficial weather and yields are expected to be good.

The first corn crop in Parana is 91% harvested with the remaining corn rated 2% filling grain and 98% maturing. The remaining first corn crop is rated 13% poor, 37% average, and 50% good.
